About me

Ever since I was young I was a big dreamer, I believed in walking by faith not sight, that the challenges of life are meant to mold you not stop you, and that your mindset would eventually create your reality.

I never asked any questions, I just went with what I felt. So when I decided I wanted to become an entrepreneur at the age of 12, I never turned around. I wasn't sure which industry I wanted to create, but I knew I wanted to create. I bought a sketch book and began to draw clothes and accessories. I filled up notebooks with designs, dimensions and measurements, and even made estimates of what it would be priced at. When my parents realized how seriously I meant it, they agreed to buy my first computer. I was then able to become more sophisticated with my creations and learn the idea of turning everything into a brand. At this point i was 14 and didn't know what to do, and neither did anyone around me, but i new to start with the basics. I came up with the name, “Averial”, and my father was able to help me through the process of getting it trademarked.

The next step, I felt obliged to make, was to find and compare manufacturers for price and quality to create my prototypes. I reduced my options to two between Hangzhou, China and Bangladesh, South Asia and eventually selected China. I sent them 5 designs and requested their minimum quantity of 50pcs in each style, and they came back to me with a quote. I got back to my parents with the price, and I got to work in order to earn the money. Unfortunately, I was too young to get a job, but was able to find work painting, doing lawn care, and cleaning for whoever was willing to pay. I came up with enough money, and paid the manufacturer for 5 styles, 50pcs each and around a month later I received the packages in the mail.

Clothing ended up being produced at low prices and of poor quality. The sizing and measurements were off, the coloring and materials looked and felt cheap, and everything had an odor to it. I was disheartened and I knew I couldn't sell anything at full cost. I saw that I would have to use the production run as experience and not profit. I sold what I could for cheap, picked out the best quality pieces of the bunch, found people who had a large following, inboxed them, sent them free clothing and in return they would advertise, post and tag my page. This would allow me to gain some traction, followers, and enough attention for me to get a page in 360 magazine. The rest of the clothes would be put in a flea market so I could make the most of it.

Growing up I was never a bad kid, for the most part, I was always respectful, obedient, and moved with good conduct. However, for the lack of ability for me at the time, to see what situations could lead me to, life allowed me to go through a series of struggles and troubles such as alternative school, suspension, and juvenile, through my High School years, which would cause a period of separation between me and my pursuit of my dreams and goals. In the process of dealing with these life lessons I dealt with extreme mental and emotional stress, betrayal, hate, lies and gossip, which would cause me to go into isolation. During this time of isolation, I realized if I was going to make it to where I wanted to be and accomplish what I wanted to accomplish, I was going to have to make changes in order to get back in touch with myself. I had to totally change the way I thought about my past and learn to adapt to the situations I found myself in, in a positive way. This would lead me to books, podcasts, and videos about mindset and self development, this would help with the mental stress, but the emotional stress and anxiety were still there, i had to find a solution. I've always liked working with my hands, and seeing what I had done in the end always made me feel complete and excited. One day I was scrolling through Instagram and came across a Leather Craft brand, looked at their work and decided to try it out. I went down to my local craft store, picked up some faux leather, thread, needles, glue, and got to it, the first one I created was absolutely horrible, the thread didn't stick and wasn't straight, the pockets where uneven and didn't function well, and the glue was all on the sides, but I knew with enough practice I could make it great and create something of value. This would also bring a new business idea and personal inspiration, the next two years I would dedicate to mastering the craft and reading business, marketing, and branding books. I would make a wallet every day until I mastered and understood every step of the process, and every night I would read chapters until I had a vision of what I needed to do to create a successful brand.

This would ultimately drive me to buy a cheap leather craft kit from Amazon, to practice on a more professional level, and overtime, the money I was making from my clothes at the flea market, would go to another piece of equipment. This would eventually allow me to create my own work on a professional level, instead of paying a manufacture who “may” get it right.

I was now faced with the final piece to the puzzle, the piece I struggled with from the beginning, which was the meaning of the name and the message of the brand. I pondered and stressed over this for a while, one day it dawned on me, 10 years later, that A.V.E.R.I.A.L was lifestyle traits that I had since the beginning and the same lifestyle traits needed to make it to the end.

Ambition. Visualization. Execution. Resiliance. Innovation. Adjustment. Lead.
